30 Days and change: Day 25
Day Twenty-Five: Do you prefer winter, spring, summer, or fall? Why?
Word Count: 211
Although a summer baby, I LOVE Fall. I love Fall because of the colors, the temperature, and the clothing selections. I am a layers person, so having the option to layer my clothes makes me feel… comfortable. I also love fall because it is my late grandmother’s favorite season. I used to hear stories of her love of the changing foliage throughout North Carolina’s switch from summer to fall. As an adult, I came to understand the beauty as much as I heard she did.
Oftentimes, I associate the feeling of love with the season of Fall. The deep yellows, oranges, reds, maroons, and deep dark greens. In Fall, when things are shifting, the feeling of skin to sun is shifted to protect from the coolness of the changing season. It’s “cuffing” season, and folks are looking for someone to lay up in the house with. It breeds a certain feeling of togetherness, warm feelings, and love. Our culinary focuses change from light dishes to warm, soothing broths, sweet potato (cause I’m Black), and my dad’s fried turkey.
All the hay rides (that I don’t take), the pumpkins carved on folks' porches, and a bunch of cute beanies to choose from. It’s really the time I feel the most like me?
