Creativity is the tendency to generate or recognize ideas, alternatives, or possibilities that may be useful in solving problems, communicating with others, and entertaining ourselves and others. -Robert E. Franken.
Like water, creativity is fluid. It adapts and flows, but its essence remains unchanged. The projects you'll find here are born from this philosophy—a reflection of my craft and a tribute to the deep knowledge and healing power that comes from embracing an ever-moving current. Dive into a selection of my graphic arts, interviews, and presentations below to see how these ideas take shape and find their form.

The core of my creativity is fueled by the spirit of water and the profound energy of the feminine lineage that has carried my family into being. You can see this philosophy at work in my piece "Watered Home," a digital collection of images that hold a special place in my heart: the familiar the water tower of my Southport, NC home, the boundless ocean that shaped it, and the ancestral love captured in a photograph of my great-grandmother holding my grandmother. These are the elements that guide my creative process. They are the energy I draw from when creating on my own, and the same spirit I bring to help co-create with those I work with.

I believe that learning is a vast, communal ocean where we navigate together. This journey is fueled by a profound curiosity, one that not only explores the world around us but also leads us to the depths of ourselves. In this process, we learn to read the currents of our own personal histories and find clarity in the sometimes submerged truths of who we are.
My educational philosophy is deeply connected to Paulo Freire's notion of education as a practice of freedom. Like the deep, soulful truth of the blues, education has a transformative power to reflect and affirm diverse perspectives, serving as a tool for liberation. It empowers people of all ages to engage critically with the world, interrogate the things we've "always known," and imagine new possibilities. In every learning space, I am committed to creating inclusive shores where all individuals feel seen, heard, and valued, and are encouraged to explore their own unique voyage.
